Fly the Legendary Aircraft of the Dambusters Raid
Step back in time and take the controls of one of the most iconic aircraft in British history — the Avro Lancaster Bomber. Forever etched into history for its role in Operation Chastise, the daring Dambusters raid of World War II, the Lancaster symbolises courage, precision, and engineering brilliance under extreme pressure.
Now, at Flight Sim Centre Newcastle, you can experience what it was like to fly this legendary bomber on one of the most audacious missions ever undertaken.
This is more than a simulator — it’s a tribute, an education, and an unforgettable experience.
About the Lancaster Bomber
The Avro Lancaster was the backbone of RAF Bomber Command during World War II. A heavy bomber capable of carrying enormous payloads, it became famous worldwide for its role in the Dambusters raid of 1943, where specially modified Lancasters from 617 Squadron lead by Wing Commander Guy Penrose Gibson flew at extremely low level deep inside enemy territory to breach German dams using a “Bouncing Bomb” designed by Sir Barnes Neville Wallis
Crews flew at night, often just 60 feet above the ground, under intense fire, relying on skill, teamwork, and nerves of steel. Many never returned.
