Software

We use the most advanced and accurate air combat software currently available offering a fully functional realistic aerodynamic flight model which has all the features required for a successful mission!

The simulator is regularly used as a “Fast Jet” training aid for professional and trainee pilots however, like all our simulators no flying experience is required to fly and enjoy our simulator, all ages are welcome, however we recommend 8 years and older.

Hardware

All of our hardware components which make up the simulator are made from metal to the same scale as the real aircraft in every aspect, couple that with our 360 degree visuals and tactile transducers offering the highest level of immersion currently available anywhere.

Overview:

Briefing: You will be taught how to fly aerobatics and air combat manoeuvres.

Aircraft: Climb into the ejector seat and take the controls in a full size F/A-18 Hornet.

Take-off: Launch from the aircraft carrier or runway, manoeuvring in the climb and learn the effects of the aircraft controls and aerobatics manoeuvres.

Air Combat: Shoot the bad guy down! (How hard can it be?)

Return to base: If there’s time why not perform a fighter pilot flyby re-join to land. (Buzz the Tower!)

Exit aircraft: Exit the aircraft and talk about how great you were!

Debrief: Debrief with your instructor, review your air combat results and receive a flight certificate with the opportunity to take some photos.

F/A-18 Hornet – Data and Performance

The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather, carrier-capable, multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing – check out our Boeing 737 Simulator)

The F/A-18 Hornet was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to its avionics, cockpit displays, and excellent aerodynamic characteristics, with the ability to carry a wide variety of weapons. The aircraft can perform fighter escort, fleet air defence, suppression of enemy air defences, air interdiction, close air support, and aerial reconnaissance. Its versatility and reliability have proven it to be a valuable carrier asset.

The F/A-18 Hornet first saw combat action during the 1986 United States bombing of Libya and subsequently participated in the 1991 Gulf war and 2003 Iraq war.
